Axminster

Ancient market town surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is situated in the east of Devon before arriving in the county of Dorset. Its origins date back to Celtic times about 300 BC. The church of St Mary with its Saxon foundations stands on the Minster Green in the centre of this friendly town. The name Axminster is distinguished throughout the world for its famous carpets invented by Thomas Whitty in 1775. The Axminster carpet factory can be visited to watch the manufacturing process.

Axe Valley

DISCOVER the outstanding natural beauty of the Axe Valley, home of tiny, ancient country villages such as Combpyne as well as the seaside attractions of Seaton.

Dramatic red and green clays dominate the coastline here and Cretaceous, Upper Greensand and Chalk rocks cap the cliffs - a combination that has caused spectacular landslides.

Honiton

Honiton is a small town on the main road between Exeter and Axminster. The town is a popular place in Devon, largely because of the number of antiques shops and it's connection with Honiton Lace. In the 17th and 18th Centuries Honiton was an important wool town, but it is undoubtedly more famous for the production of fine Honiton Lace.
